I'm staring down the barrel of a Remington right now but maybe you can help me turn this shit I have for a life around.
My PTSD is the most severe it has ever been. I have up to 10 flashbacks daily which is costing me my job. I don't really want to go into details about my PTSD but it is non-military related. It is torture and abuse related.
But when the clouds part for a brief moment in my mind I remember that I have a college degree in psychology which was a stupid choice but I took someone's advice I trusted and you know how that goes. Trust missed a good chance at being a 4 letter word.
I'm a skilled visual artist. That I am sure of. But artists are worthless in this day and age. I've tried selling pop art on eBay but it's like third world country earnings for drawing from dawn to dusk.
I'm an excellent writer but it seems like you can't make money from writing anymore either. If it's possible, point me in the right direction if you yourself are earning money writing about something that doesn't make you want to drown yourself. I will even write smut. I am not prudish.
I have a work background in student financial aid and admissions but here's the catch--these places often drug test and well, I don't have any insurance right now so my only treatment is cannabis. It's the only thing that stops the flashbacks, but I can't smoke that while I'm at work. I would be fired because I'm one of those people that can't hide that they are high af.
My current employer is so stupid they couldn't even figure out when my health insurance would kick in so they gave me the wrong date so I set my obamacare to cancel (trying not to be a piece of shit freeloader here) the day before the new insurance started, but once that date arrived they told me it would be another month. So now I don't even have insurance and I desperately need a psychiatrist.
Got any advice for me to make some money so I can start seeing a psychiatrist?

Im surprised you havent tried psilocybin.
It should not replace professional medical care by any means so keep finding your way to seeing a doctor, but there are promising clinical studies on its effect on mental disorders including ptsd.
Mdma is also a satisfactorily documented treatment. That ones iffy though because being illegal its hard to find a safe source. Drug producers be puttin all kinds of shit in there.
If you got nothing to lose, id go that route

Have you search around for local markets? If youre artistically inclined there are very simple rustic crafts you can bang out fast that people would certainly buy..
Signs, key hooks, dish and mug hangars. Its certainly below you if youre any good but you need money and people buy stupidly simple shit..

OP see a therapist. Use charity care. Go to support groups. Stop trying to be things that won't work out for you (artist, writer, psychologist).

When you dismiss things without research based on bias and assumptions you hinder progress in any way shape or form. I would stop being that person. Hes a bad person. Your christian ass school drug abstinence program does not trump clinical research.

I'm in the same boat as you OP, there aren't enough therapists in the world for the people who are treated as their life isn't valuable. Just thank all the idiots who keep having kids not knowing what the fuck their plan is gonna be if they end up becoming human batteries or something.
