I've been physically and mentally disabled for 8 years. Years ago I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, degenerate disc disease, and many other crippling problems. I can barely walk or function, and even when I can I'm overwhelmed by lack of interest to do anything and lack of energy. I've tried to seriously commit suicide multiple times, but after hospitalizations and worry I'm being monitored by my family. I'm a medical mystery to a lot of doctors and being as I'm on on welfare level of insurance I don't have access to specialists that I'm being told I need to see and instead offered amateurs in the professions that make me wait 6 months for an in take appointment only to not understand test results and contradict themselves then recommend I "just take pain killers" or "physical therapy" which neither ever helped. I tried going to psychiatric therapy and just got pumped full off tons of different antipsychotics, SSRIs and the like. Nothing worked there either all of them either made me actually psychotic , more depressed, or had other terrible side effects. Some doctors even put me on drugs that apparently had deadly cocktail effects and may have screwed with my brain permanently. I applied for SSI 8 years ago at the end stages of a severe diagnosis and handicapping event and I've been denied at every level including the Appeals Counsel (they didn't review my case just refused to review it) with a lawyer that has been no help at all and others refuse to help. I'm lost and don't know where to turn. I'm scared and disgusted

You have a few choices,

have hope and power through this with all your heart or don't mess up suicide again.

I don't have any advice, this just makes me really sad and not comprehend our Social Security system. Hang in there, anon!

Thanks guys I'll try. I try to keep my head up it just feels good to be reminded that just because I'm only ever exposed to negative and bitter people, myself included, there are genuinely good people out there and to help another complete stranger. Worst case if I do end up without any options, suppress any feelings of who has the deal with my death and grow a set of balls to end it all I'll try a handgun with a slug bullet or an exit bag instead of overdoses, suffocation, or hanging

find a big lawyer and make sure they're a disability specialist not just some random lawyer. drop whoever your current fuckwad is.
>>
>>18416188
Sad truth is he is the specialist for the "district?" or "region?" I forget the terms the other lawyers I called said. They practice in my state but not my area more or less. He is not only the specialist but one of the only ones to begin with and the others I went to wouldn't help me...I'm not sure why...but when I asked they said that they aren't confident in my case. I can't even say there is a positive to my current lawyer either. I've done all the medical record requests manually delivered all the release forms and all he did was tell me I'm ungrateful to be able to apply for disability and I should be thankful he's helping me. He has lied to my parents while in my company then later told my parents and I were liars to the others about what he said. He had a personal relationship with the judge which was "beneficial" to my case despite the fact the judge had the highest denial percentile, being 80% I think, in my state so now he won't help challenge the judge despite the judge's contradicting report because it's not in his best interests. And I'm completely in the dark on this subject so I don't even know how to fend for myself legally or what I can do.

Fuck
I have no idea about these sort of things, but getting another lawyer who is more proficient in cases such as yours (and perhaps also more of a decent person) would be a primary course of action in my opinion.

Have you thought of moving and just applying in a different area. I know that's hard to accomplish but if you can get any assistance where you are how are you going to keep a roof over your head? You might need to try applying somewhere else and yah ditch the scummy lawyer

I'm assuming you're burger, so I don't know if I can help you but in germany we have various social help groups which suppoert disabled (mentaly and physically) people with such daily struggles and paper work (german bureocracy is a bitch). You might want to ask your local "citizen advice bureau" (?) if something like that exists. Even if you're not religious you might want to mail your local pastor. Most religious people get a soft high from helping people so their altruism can work in your favour. Just tell them your situation. They might be able to call some places and ask around, Many older people here do such work for free just to be around people and do something useful. Maybe even write in plebbits r/mensrights although help for men in bad situations isn't as wide spread as for women, if anybody knows were you might get some, they will. Have you already joined a self-help group for people in your position? I know men don't like asking for help and speaking in great lengths about it but even knowing and reading what others think in their situation and how they deal with it can help. It's also a good way to not fall into suicidal thoughts and you might be able to harvest some contacts which would be able to help you.

I would also go with the other anon and try to move. You can also use it for a cut in your life and leave your suicidal thoughts symbolistically behind you. Just don't move into some shithole with people which don't give a shit about their neigboors. Have you thought about something like a living communnity for people with stuff like yours? Also, last week I've read a study which said that wimply writting a diary and getting the stuff on your mind out there improves mental health and boost your immun system. Maybe you can try it for a couple weeks.

I'm sorry for all the shit you have to go through, but try to not kill yourself. Even if your body and reproduction is fucked you can still use what'S left off your mind to better yourself or at least the people around you. I find that thought helpful. At least it give my life meaning and a reason not to off myself soto not hurt and dissapoint the people near me.

Paul is the founder of "A Voice For Men", you could write him either on FB or just google his name for his eMail adress. He worked as a social worker and might know some more people to write to:

Move and or try another lawyer that sounds like a solid place to start

You probably don't get the ssi because your family has money.
I would say, go meditation three times a week. If you can't do shit, at least do it well

Me either, thank you for he help though. I'm still trying to find a new one

>>18416319
I've considered this, however I'm on lockdown since the suicides, but I have applied for housing out of my area. Even with my current situation it's a 6-9 month waiting period so that gives me times. Thanks for your time

>>18416725
Thank you for the advice, I actually have gotten in contact with catholic charities program and I've recently started to work with them. Transport is hard, but my parents are trying to help me stay on a positive track so they help when they can.
>>18416733

I'll take a look into this, thanks. Never heard of it before so it's definitely something to look in to

>>18417143
Thank you for your response. Sad to say they are poor and disabled too. Not as much as me but they are disabled. When I was at my hearing the vocational expert said that even if only 1/3 of the claims I'm making are true I'd be unable to perform gainful work and in the report for the denial the judge admits in multiple places that I have all the evidence backing it up and I'm disabled and then in he same breath, I kid you not, she says she feels I'm not disabled. The system is so fucked up.

I'm sorry it took so long to respond and I'm sorry if the responses aren't structured well. Thank you for all of your time.
