I just found some chocolate wafers that I got as a birthday gift that I forgot about. It expired January of this year. I took one out and ate it, and it tasted fine. Can I still eat it?

>already ate one
I mean in for a penny...

yes, and it will most likely make you a little sick. There's a small chance you could end up in a hospital for food poisoning, but technically nothing s stopping you from eating it. ^_^

Eat them all
Chocolate wafers kept in a fridge is safe to eat for up to six months after expiration. Taste a bit odd though.

It was in a shoebox. I guess I should throw it away.

It really depends on what kind of chocolate wafers is it. Some dried type could lasted a year after expiration.
Since you said it tasted fine it should be okay. The near rotten one is going to taste a bit bland with a yucky texture.
Expiration date are suggestions and a way for companies to not get sued. A lot of food lasts well after the expiration date, especially if they've never been opened.

>Buy meat from local supermarket
>A full week before the expiration date
>Immediately throw it in the fridge
>Open it next day, fucking reeks, obviously fugd
I fucking love this "expiration date is a suggestion" meme. Shitty companies will sell food that expires just barely before expiration date anyway. I guess they understand the suggestion another way.

Dont know if it matters but it's this kind. It was still sealed tight in it's container. Didn't smell weird or anything.

It depends on the food. I generally still drink milk a few days after expiration and never had a stomachache or anything.

Should had posted pic at the first place. Those kind is going to be perfectly fine, since it going to last at least a year after expiration.
Enjoy your wafer.
