Chocolate wafers kept in a fridge is safe to eat for up to six months after expiration. Taste a bit odd though.

It really depends on what kind of chocolate wafers is it. Some dried type could lasted a year after expiration.

Since you said it tasted fine it should be okay. The near rotten one is going to taste a bit bland with a yucky texture.

Expiration date are suggestions and a way for companies to not get sued. A lot of food lasts well after the expiration date, especially if they've never been opened.

I fucking love this "expiration date is a suggestion" meme. Shitty companies will sell food that expires just barely before expiration date anyway. I guess they understand the suggestion another way.
