>really nice, decent pay, most of the employees are close friends
>applied at a hospital for a lab assistant job ages ago
>somehow get a call from them last week
>go in for interview
>lab supervisor says that the job wouldn't fit in with my school schedule
>BUT
>she sees I have experience in phlebotomy
>mentions there will be openings in that department soon
>basically spend the rest of the interview talking about that

>meet lab director on the way out, tell her what happened

So what should I do? Turn down the opportunity I've been spending years searching for, or give all my friends at my current store the finger by walking out at such a bad time?

From your post it seems you're really looking forward to do the hospital job for long time, go for it then, what are you waiting for? If it's about your friends at the store, they'll hold up and will be good again in no time.
Except if you're really looking forward to own the store or maybe learn to start business yourself more than doing the hospital job, it's an easy choice.

I suppose you guys are right. To be honest, I would have had to leave after this year to do my clinicals. I just hope they won't hate me for this. I really need references.
