>started a new job as a building maintenance technician
>Quickly realize there is never enough work to fill my 8 hour shift
>I'm watched through the cameras since the last guy was fired for sitting around too much
>Have to submit a report at the end of each week detailing what I did that week and if it's not enough I'm grilled about it
Help, I don't know how to satisfy this bitch ass facility manager and it's very anxiety provoking. I'm actually good at my job and I can all the day's work in a couple hours but if I do my job well I'm punished for it

slow everything down while looking for a new job

Get some broken item (water faucet or such) and sit "fixing" it for hours on end. Carry empty boxes from one place to another and back again. When in doubt, push a broom.

You need to keep asking for work. If you finish your day's tasks in a few hours, you should walk over to the management office and tell them to give you more things to do. It's on them to give you tasks. I guarantee if you keep showing up every day and pestering them for work, they're either going to give you a lot more work to do, or they're going to get off your nuts when it comes time to review you, because they are now aware that there isn't enough to do.
It's on you to make yourself known all the time, and either show you are working, or do not have stuff to do. The other guy got in trouble because he wasn't looking for things to do.

That's pretty much what I'm doing now, but it makes me feel dirty

You're probably right, I will try this. I hope it doesn't result in them reducing my hours or something

The best time to look for a new job is while you still have a job. I would start looking now and you have a great reason for why they ask when you're leaving your old job.
