No, you are missing the point. I am assuming you've already had a conversation with your family about being left out of the loop on things and events happening within your family. I assume you have tried to make an effort to get back into that loop whether it be visiting family or calling them of your own free will.

At that point, just be happy with your SO. Next time your family calls asking for advice or help, tell them you are busy with your SO.
