My lower back started hurting when I bend forward. I don't know what caused this, but I recently got sick and when I cough heavily it also hurts my back. I thought if I rested a bit it would be fine but if anything it has gotten worse, from a mild aching to a more pronounced pain. I have very limited access to a doctor so that is not the most feasible option.
What could the pain be and how can I stop it? I run sometimes, perhaps this caused it?
Do you have poor posture?

No, I have pretty good posture, especially when I run, or so I have been told in the past.

fug ;_;
Sounds like a pinched nerve or sciatica if you have leg and or ass pain.
Resting won't make it better physical therapy can really help. You need to do daily exercises to strengthen your core. This will take the weight off your back, and relax your spine, you might even have a slipped disk. That's what I have. Whenever it bothers me I have to do a bunch of pelvic tilts and cat/cow and it will get better.

Tears in muscles and back ligaments can take 2 months or so to heal. Try doing light stretches that elongate the spine. Sit on your knees and lay forward in a "child's pose." Google some basic stretches to increase distance between your vertebrae.

I see. I was hesitant to stretch it out because I was afraid it might exacerbate the problem. I'll start with child's pose and the cat/cow stuff. Thanks anons.
