I'm 20, obese, working full time as security, don't sleep well and don't eat well.

What small changes can I make to my lifestyle so I can have more energy during the day? Whenever I eat I feel tired, whenever I'm awake I feel mentally exhausted. My body is ready to react but my mind isn't there. I have to sort out a health insurance issue so no doctor just yet.

My shifts are 8 hours, I get four or so hours of sleep, and I work a 16 hour shift right after the 8 hour at least once a week.

Eat healthier foods. It's easy at first, just start small: an apple or a bannana instead of a candy bar, a stirfry instead of a burger, etc.

I work security too, so I know how easy it is to load up on junk food, but you've gotta resist that temptation. One of the things i do is to cook an entire week's worth of meals for work on sunday, which makes it really easy to track your calories and nutrients.

My advice.

No dairy, candy, no fast food (except Chipotle once or twice s week and only one burrito per visit) no good with hfcs and dyes. You must also avoid soda at all costs. No convenience and processed meals.

Unsweetened Almond milk coconut and coconut milk is your new friend along with water. Chicken is your main course go for cutlets or stir fry. Fish is also good as well.

Stay under 2,000 sodium a day
Under 50 grams of sugar a day. Otherwise it will spike your blood sugar and you will have cravings and eat a lot. When you start you will have withdrawals just like all addictions but you need to stay strong for 2 weeks in order for your body to adapt.

Begin to look for /fit/ recipes.
