If you can blow through math in 15 minutes then you havent gotten to a difficult math class yet.
As with everything you will get better with practice.
If you specify what you have to do I could think of some ways to practice to get better.

Well I am doing calculus, I just finished differential calculus, and starting integration. I actually did calculus from the age of 10.

About empathy and seeing what the author intended for you to see

Reading a shit ton of classics makes it easier

In my high school our language classes were more defined.
We had journalism and english literature and composition writing.
What do you mean connections?
Are you analyzing metaphors and themes or is this some type of vague "what does this piece say to you."
Also calculus is basic high school math.
If you are breezing through high school math then you should be taking AP calc or statistics.
It really sounds like you memorize things easily but dont have any critical thinking skills which will be important for all college level academics.
