The original purpose of God/religion was to give meaning to stuff, so you're right on the regard that believing in something makes life much more easy.

However once you free yourself from the reigns of religious morality and realize that nothing has importance, nothing happens for a reason and we're all here by accident then you can start looking for your own path in life, just remember the one golden rule:

Don't hurt people.

As long as you are not negatively affecting anyone then anything you do is right so stop worrying and start living, smoke that joint of weed and call that girl, realizing that you will die is only half of the escense of existencialism, the other half is realizing that you still have a lot of time until that happens and you can do whatever the fuck you want with that time because even if a god existed he would not give a fuck about your little meaningless life.

I've been atheist since I was born, my parents are non-religious and just never brought up religion at all.

Never felt any anxiety over death (thought I expect that to change when I'm old and grey). I made my own purpose for life, to try my best in things, live harmoniously and enjoy things as much as possible. You don't need religion to have a life purpose

Doesn't matter if you live the perfect life if you end up in hell because you wrote off the God you were too intellectually lazy to even try to understand. His existence doesn't depend on you believing He is. He just is.

I realize how shitty life is but I don't hate God. Believing actually keeps me sane and alive.
That being said, it's not like I'm happy everyday. There's days where I ask God to take my life already cause I can't handle this world or the way I am. Then I realize that I'm trying to live and do shit on my own and that I obviously can't. So in a way it humbles me.

I think that if I didn't believe I would've killed myself already because I wouldn't have hope that things will be better on the other side. That I only have to suffer in this life, and that it's to teach me to be humble and build character.


Also I have depression.

What's life worth living for anyways if you don't have something to devote it to? What's the point if shits just gonna be bad for no reason?
