Here's a little secret that I've found in life. People that actually "love" things don't actually talk about them constantly.

Good dog owners let their dogs become a facet of themselves, and don't constantly try to project their pet as some extension of their persona.

"Oh my God, I love my dog so much!"
"Oh my God, cats are SoOoOo much better than-"

It's ok OP, no one really likes the autismos that lose 100% of their shit whenever a dog or a cat shows up.
One of my pet peeves is when I'm having a serious or at least engaging conversation with someone and they completely lose focus as soon as a dog shows up. It's a goddamn dog, calm the fuck down.
Actually, fun fact, back in undergrad I had this one asshole cancel on me with an interview for a media internship and then ghost on me for weeks. When I finally got back in contact with him he told me that he had gotten busy due to getting a new dog.

I'm like that with dogs I guess.

I have 3 dogs and I still stare when I see one in public.
I'm the same with babies.
It evokes a deep, emotional feeling of adoration.

That being said I'm not someone who gets in a tizzy when someone says they don't like dogs or prefers cats. And I don't have a visible shit attack when someone hurts a dog- I do think they're a terrible person that should be punished but not excessively.
That's just autism.

I don't think there's anything wrong with loving dogs deeply though.
