Is IT a "gross" career to have?
Gross?
Like compared to garbage man or sewer repair people?

a-are you retarded anon?
??? No....
IT makes you feel powerful.
No it isn't gross, but often times it's thankless and stressful.
People are generally still absolute morons when it comes to technology so you'll be taking the heat for literally everything that goes wrong even if you had 100% nothing to do with it. If you didn't cause it, then its your fault for not predicting/preventing it and for not fixing it fast enough.
People hate feeling inferior and that's what happens when something goes wrong with their equipment and they don't understand why - then they'll take it out on you.
There are definitely some sweet gigs out there, though, and if you do your due diligence well or the company has been set up well to begin with (and infrastructure been well maintained and managed) then you could potentially have a pretty easy job.
Of course that's literally if you mean IT as in the IT department of a company. If you're talking about Information Technology in general (which is a completely useless term these days) then that's way too fucking broad and I have no idea what to tell you.
I'm a welder.
I don't think my gf would tell me that I smell gross and need a shower every day after work if I worked in IT.

That's not IT that's software.
