I used to be able to work extremely hard for like 8 hours at a time, but I've lost that recently.
How do I get it back?

>8 hours at a time
You might have worked, but multiple studies say that you can't do more than like 1 or 2 hours (mostly 1) of productive work. You might be able to push yourself through it, but you get less and less efficent with your brain.
That said, I don't really have an answer Sorry.

>studies done by a bunch of nerds
Come out to the oil patch or hell loads of other fields of work and we put in long, consistent, hours daily. Thinking someone can only put in 1 hour, 2 tops, of productive work is fucking laughable and only someone who have never really worked hard would say something that stupid.

inb4 you say less efficient.
In my line of work less efficient means losing millions of dollars from the smallest error, or worse someone dies or is seriously maimed. These things hardly ever happen though, but are of course to be expected. Point is there loads of people that can work hard for 8+ hours a day and do it well.

I agree with this sentiment. Maybe those studies were about voluntary mental exertion like studying, definitely not for actual work that you depend on for survival.
