I want to access the dark web (just out of curiosity, I want to see what it's like for myself). I've heard some people say TOR isn't safe anymore and others say it still works fine. can you guys give me some advice?
>put linux tails on a thumb drive
>boot up tor
>disable scripts on tor
>use a VPN if you're super paranoid
congrats now you can play on the dark web

TOR use, but not content, can be detected given its structure.

There's nothing of intrest anyway unless you're into cp.

No Mr. FBI, I'm not into pizza.

Can you explain that to me like I know nothing or direct me somewhere that will?

Basically, as long as you stay on the onion network, you're safe. You're still vulnerable to zero-day browser exploits and malware, but there's nothing you can do about that except stay updated.
Once you start visiting clearnet sites things get a little bit dangerous, because it's possible for a malicious exit node to deanonymize you. Using a VPN (make sure it doesn't keep logs!) along with TOR will protect your anonymity and using HTTPS will protect your privacy.
And very importantly: never leave JavaScript enabled. Use NoScript in whitelist mode if there's JS sites you absolutely have to use, but in general you should avoid JS wherever possible.

What he said is pretty damn forward.
Kinda unrelated question here:
Should I just get a cheap throwaway PC to browse the dark web? I'm really interested in browsing but I don't want to use my own PC since it has inportant stuff like work.
