Hi /adv/

I don't have a decent cooker. It exists, but the stove takes 40 minutes to boil water (even preheated in kettle), the oven takes a good 45 to cook a 15 minute oven pizza. It's not ideal.

I want to eat reasonable food, not microwave meals and shit all the time. It would be expensive and it wouldn't be nice.

What I do have is a rice cooker and a microwave. So here's my plan:
1) Buy a George Foreman - this means I can cook meat properly
2) Cook some white rice in the rice cooker (takes about 20m)
3) Steam vegetables in the rice cooker in the steamer shelf thingy (would 20m in a 700w be enough for stuff like broccoli, green beans, spinach?)
4) Cook some tasty meat on the George Foreman, maybe sliced chicken or pork
5) Make cup-a-soups using the kettle, then putting this soup on the meal to act as a sauce

I'm only cooking for myself. I mean I can do other stuff like cook a burger on the grill. The hobs get hot enough to cook eggs. But I want to be able to cook myself some fairly nutritious food without it taking ages. I'm a man of pretty simple tastes so I don't like overcomplicaterd foods, or ones that take a lot of prep.

Would this work? Would it taste alright?

could be the oven's got a problem, one that could be fixed.
also check out slow cookers, them things rock.

Get a quality toaster oven

It's university housing. They have issues, the issues don't get fixed very quickly, but the cookers *do* suck.

The rice cooker I already have, it's a Tefal 8 in 1 with slowcook settings, delay timer etc. so I can make stew and things in it. But I don't really want to be making my dinner at 8 o'clock in the morning..

I was thinking about one of these, so it would do toasting too.

Bump, my idea any good or is it awful?
>>

I think the toaster oven is more versatile and would be better for what you want.
>>

I'm conflicted, I think you're right that you can do chips and stuff in a toaster oven.. on the other hand man I am weak for grilled meat.

Just buy both then
>>
OR Spend a little extra money and buy yourself an induction hot plate and a deep copper bottom skillet.

Will last you through your college years and probably pretty deep in to your adult life, and will bassically be able to cook most anything Stove top related that you could want
