I feel you. I want to move from my low value hellhole for rednecks and retirees to somewhere on the west coast where the sky is bluer and you can feel the ocean air and there are four seasons. No luck, though, property values are a knife to the balls.

I went from bumfuck NY to all of the hawaiian islands, backpacked for 3 months thru the summer and then moved to California.

It's possible. I have done it. I never thought I would but I just went for it. Bought the ticket and didn't look back/talk myself out of it. Just made it happen. look into helpx,workaway if u cannot afford rent.

no, they are not.

I worked for a year and a half before I left home, saved around 10K and just budgeted my money really well. I stayed in hostels, camped in wooded areas.. and so on. At this point I have 3$ in total, and am living in california.. paycheck to paycheck but I'd rather have a life than a big bank account.
