What do I do if I truly do not want to work?
I am in my early 20's and do not want to get a job ever again, the last time I worked was 3 years ago and it was to save up for a move out of the state. I don't want to do it again - it wastes my time.. need to get a house for my gf and i .. I need money for doing things ... IDK..
What can I do to avoid working away the rest of my life?
I just wanna sit around painting all day, going out traveling, having good food, growing food and having fun.
Kek, nobody truly wants to work. Welcome to life buddy. You either work hard, get lucky, or die.
Starting your own business and then selling it is probably the most obvious way to "never work again." But doing this successfully takes lots of hard work, research, intelligence, money, and luck, which I doubt you have all of.
Your best bet is to work a seasonal job that is high paying (most likely dangerous or isolated)
Other things you can do are stuff like blood/sperm donation, being a test subject, etc
I do welding and I'm able to do pushups and pullups at work, so I turn every shift into a workout.
I do my work obviously, but I also make sure I get my heart rate up and staying fit while I earn money.
Working 40 hours a week has also been proven to give you momentum and be more productive. After crushing it at work you feel super inspired after you get out, and I have much more motivation and energy to pursue my hobbies and goals etc.

I'm not OP and certainly not saying that OP can just decide not to work anymore, but while it's good that you get inspired by 40 hours a week of work, my job, and every job I've ever had, has sapped all of my inspiration for life out of me. Some were slightly better than others, but even in a job that most people would think was "cool," work leaves me feeling like my life is over, and miserable for every hour that isn't vacation or sleep.
Anyways OP, you're fucked, and are going to have to work. There's no magic fix. As some have mentioned, maybe do seasonal work so you can just get it out of the way and be happy in chunks. You could work on an oil rig, or something like that.

Maybe you just had a bad experience at your last job. Job satisfaction is not just about what you do, it can be about your boss, colleagues and so on. It's easy to decide to sit on your ass at this age (I did it myself) but you will end up having to catch up to life later on. And the more you wait the tougher it's going to get.
You don't have to work a 9 to 5 for the rest of your life but you have to figure something out to make a living. You absolutely need money and need a consistent way of making it.

You could live very cheaply for a year or two, save up a chunk of money, buy a plot of land for a couple thousand dollars and live there for next to nothing for as long as you want. It's a simple life, but maybe that's right for you.
If you want to travel, though, you're going to need money, and that means you need to be willing to work. No way around that.

I'm gonna have to agree with >>18272093. Working sucks balls, it takes a shit ton of energy and will power most days. However, >>18271807 has it right with "work, get lucky, or die". Unfortunately for 99.99% of people life is hard. You're gonna have to learn to get over it, or figure a way around it, either way it's not something anyone else is going to have an answer for you. Its a personal journey mate, just endure it and hopefully build something out of it.
Work sucks. But its less hard when you get adequate pay for it.
I earn about $59 k a year before taxes. That is good in the country where i live. A better paycheck than my mother has ever earned during her working life for example.
