Hello,
I come humbly and respectfully... I'm not a "tech person" but a writer who's currently working on a novel. One of the characters is immersed in the "deep web" (running a web-cam site that features Detroit crack whores, etc.) and is working towards hacking the televised broadcast of a college football game. I've read books on the subject; now I'm here to observe the modes of communication and to learn anything anyone will tell me about organizing a hack.
Thanks for your consideration. I'm grateful for any advice whatsoever.
Humbly, DeLillo

Just watch Mr. Robot. Can confirm many of the non-dramatic things they picture are how real hacking gets done.
Thanks... I did watch Mr. Robot... any suggestions for a place to observe authentic "web board" vernacular. And any advice on attempting to write about a network television hack? Thank you very much.

Instead of crackwhores make them people who have been trafficted into the sex trade. More realisitic. They could be Russian or some shit
the deep web people I know are not "gangs of hackers." They are a bunch of low tech illegal business owners and maybe one guy that knows computers. He generally works for himself.

Download TOR, google for some onion sites (since you'd get the results from google, you're unlikely to jump into some CP shit), take a look for yourself. Would take 5 min max and be worth more than reading about it. Although that's necessary too.
>And any advice on attempting to write about a network television hack?
Since you're not a tech person, it's probably not a techporn type of novel, so no need to overdo it with details unless they matter to the plot (social engineering).

I agree with this guy. Download Tor and go to the hidden wiki, it will give you some idea about what is out there.
Also, not sure if there all this way, but the deep web guys I know IRL all have super obnoxious/disordered personalities.
Thank you for this great advice... it both lets me know I'm on the right track and have a lot to learn (I've poked around on Tor without knowing where to go... and these characters are "disordered" and socially deranged).
At the moment, these guys are trying to hack three minutes of a college football game to broadcast data they acquired from a Koch-like enterprise. Any suggestions for that? Is that too bombastic?
PS> it's just one thread in a big, knotty book. But, as I said, I'm very in the dark about this.

People do deep web shit because they they can't/don't work well with others IRL. There are a million other ways you can make better money than some illegal enterprise on the deep web. People who do it as a career are fucking weirdos IRL.
