Can anyone talk about why holding on to the "good moments" in a toxic relationship is bad for you? Like if someone tells you that even though they fucked up there are still so many good memories that matter so much and they should be enough for you to stay.

Because "holding on good moments" is what you do to survive jail without fucking up your mind. If you need that to do in your relationshit, it's fucked beyond hope.
>>
You will lose sight of the forest if you only look at one tree.

Now it is only fair to admit that there were positive aspects of your relationship but you also have to admit the negative as well.

It's just easier to reflect on the relationship and learn. Then hopefully not make the same mistakes.

lol, simply put its bad because it dismisses and draws attention away from legitimate grievances you have in favor for certain positive moments that were cherry picked from the relationship. It isn't an accurate representation of the relationship as a whole and therefore shouldn't be treated as thus.

Acknowledging the good isn't horrible but weight that against the wrongs as well. Looking at only one end of the spectrum warps the frame of the relationship. It is best to give an honest evaluation when discussing it and deciding whether to continue or not

why do people insist on it to get you back though? It's obvious you hit your limit and don't want to be with them anymore and no amount of good moments will change that. Why do people hold on to this narrative so much?

>Why do people hold on to this narrative so much?
Because most humans are afraid of change. Also sunk cost fallacy.

Yeah and what >>18261298 said, I think people just get too comfortable. The last relationship he was in ended and then another started right away. He just filled the void with another girl. This is the first time he's all alone with no hopes of getting the relationship back.
