So I'm fairly certain a friend of mine has developed some form of psychosis. While I'm nowhere near an expert on the topic, he sure seems to be starting to show quite a lot of the schizophrenia like symptoms. For example a few weeks ago he stated that at one point he turned off the oven light with his mind, he also asked another friend of mine if he can hear his thoughts and that he (first friend) often hears his thoughts in a form of an external voice speaking to him. He's also very paranoid that the illuminati are targeting him for trying to 'better the world'. He was a daily weed smoker till about two months or so ago when he quit, but I'm affraid the damage of weed only escalating the progeress of his..oddness had already been done. Slowly but steady his whole behaviour has been changing from week to week. Has anyone ever been in a similar situation? I feel that if we simply confront him about it he would only get even more distant and alienated, however we also need to make something asap

Get him into therapy. The earlier the better. If you do it as he's just having his first break it's likely it'll be his only episode. If you do not, he may get better on his own (psychosis is not black and white), but if he doesn't, his prognosis will be far worse than if you helped him into therapy now.

Try to get him into therapy, he'll be on meds for the rest of his life. His emotions will be super neutral always afterwards. Sucks a lot all the best to you guys. Take care of him.

My father developed schizophrenia (or at least that's what I think it was) in his 40's. He had been a heavy drinker and drug user his whole life, so I'm sure that had something to do with it. We all pleaded with him to see a doctor and get meds but he wouldn't. He insisted that everybody else was crazy and he was normal. I eventually cut him off. He got progressively worse over the course of a few years until he finally killed himself.
Hate to say it, but a lot of times there is nothing you can do in these situations. There's no reasoning with these people.
