I mean, Jesus was not white. Dude was a middle eastern Jew. But he wasn't African either.

However, historically this is not exclusive to just whites and blacks. The Chinese christians depict jesus as Chinese, the Indian christians depict him as Indian. Etc.
They all want to believe god/jesus looked like them.

I for the life of me have no clue lmao. God put some pretty clear words in the bible that blacks are lesser human beings, dude fully condoned slavery, idk why anyone who is black would wanna back this god and that holy book. Same with women, god specifically says women are also lesser beings who should be nothing but tools to support men. Hell god even thinks raping women is cool, as long as you marry her after.

But the thing about religion, is it's a powerful fear tactic used to control people. It's mindlessly passed from generation to generation, so it's easy to see how many people still hold on to these beliefs and often times do not even really know anything about what they believe in.

But there are two different aspects to religious texts. In relation to OP's question, for example, it's two different things whether "Jesus" existed as an actual historical figure (a question that can theoretically be suppored/disgredited with evidence), or whether "Jesus" was the son of god (a question of faith). Just because something originates from religious texts, doesn't automatically mean it can't/shouldn't be logically evaluated.

It was the Roman Catholic Church that made him white and beautiful. The Bible says he looked like a beggar and was probably below average. He was supposed to be the symbol of the common man. He wasn't a god amongst men. He was a man. A man who happened to be the son of God. He was given the ability to do miracles when necessary.
