how do I know whether I should change jobs?
how do I go about changing jobs if I've been doing the same job for 6 years?
I feel like I'm capable of more but I'm stuck
Apply to other jobs. That's it. You'll have to take time off of work (and maybe lie a bit) in order to attend interviews.

the very thought of that makes me nervous
I've heard that even if you fuck up and end up in a worse job, that can still lead to progress because you will eventually find something better...

>work at sams club for 2 years
>pretty much hate every day because how the scheduled associates in my department
>wanted an entire 16 pallet produce truck broken down by 1 guy in 3 hours (lol?)
>get fired because I'm always in the wrong spot and didn't defend my writeups until too late
>get new job
>make less than other job (now more)
>have to drive all over town
>muh knees
>muh gas
>only good thing is the managers/supervisors are nice
>realize sams wasn't all that bad
>Get another job
>Work both jobs for a bit
>Leave the job you dislike more

If you feel miserable because shitty management it might be worth it
If it's the work itself you should change track
Money isn't everything - I know a guy who became shift leader on a dairy plant, earned mad dough, ended up getting stressed out (fainting and all) and had to go unemployed for a year to get his shit together
