It's not necessary as bad as it sounds. I didn't brush mine for 1-2 years, only drank a lot water after eating and rinsed every night and afterwards the dentist told me how great they are. Despite a diet full of sugar and the likes.

Brushing teeth doesn't do much against that, unless you leave pieces of food stuck in there. The majority of shitty breath comes either from infections or shitty hydration.
