Always wanted to be one. Finally going for it. Any tips or insight as to the best route to go? There's almost too much info out there, I can't keep it straight.

I'm working on it now, my buddy just got hired a few months ago.
Paramedics get dank job security and go to your CPAT orientation. Other than that, the rest is pretty common knowledge. Keep your ass in shape, and study your ass off (though fire studies are half as hard as basic EMT)

In my country if you want to be firefighter, you have to complete high school usa equivalent, be somewhat physically fit (able to run some time, climb a rope, lift some weigth) and that is just it. They make you take some ~1 year course and bam, you are firefighter (you have to keep stay fit, the physical tests are each year).
