It's not a mistake you're making. This is a fundamental flaw in the therapist. Eventually someone is going to take your self esteem issues seriously, or at least give you better reasons as to why they think you're wrong.

What the therapist should be doing is searching for examples as to why the things you say about yourself are untrue, and use them as counter points to your shitty arguments that you're terrible.

Yeah, you have it rough OP. But...you're young, get some cash and move to a place that's more accepting. I accept you, I don't care that you're trans and gay at all. I know you don't know me, but I'm just saying there are accepting people out there.

Small towns are very rigid because everyone knows everyone, so it's more difficult to be non-conformist. Gay and trans is non-conformist.

Accept yourself for what you are (sounds like you have), but realize the hate you get, the dirty looks, etc. are just from people that are unhappy that you're upsetting their status quo. You make them feel uncomfortable.

Time will eventually change things, but you'll never change all of their minds. You need to move.

And you'll find someone that you can be with. Don't be stupid and trust too easily, but trusst is built over time.

You'll be ok, you can find love...be patient.

It's not like a SMALL TOWN small town, and nobody knows I'm trans. It's just that there's exactly two gays here, me and this lesbian two towns over that I don't really talk to.

I don't get hate or dirty looks. I just don't have what it takes to get into school to move into a larger place where I'd have more of a fragment of a shot at finding a partner who'd even consider tolerating me.
