Hi guys. My puppy keeps on getting food stuck to the roof of her mouth and ends up chewing endlessly with a big wad of food glued to the top of her mouth. I've tried soft puppy food, kibble and chopped up chicken breast, it all ends the same way. One hour of smacking her mouth trying to get the food in with a big mess all over.
Any advice on how I can stop this from happening? Is this common in puppies or is she genetically defective?

Do you have toys for the pup, maybe that would help her dislodge the food.

The problem is it delays meal times and I want her to finish her food quickly
I took time off work to nurse her but when I go back I won't have much time to monitor her
I have heard of a genetic problem related to roof of mouth for dogs. They can have clefts. Has a vet looked at it? I don't know much about doggies.
She still looks very young, perhaps put her back on milk, just add small amounts of wet puppy food in it. Buy a blender bottle, and puppy formula mix a spoon of puppy food with it and shake it up really good. Pure puppy food might be too sticky for her little mouth.

>getting a puppy as a full time worker
I hope you have a kid or girlfriend or something to keep the poor pup company/train her while you're gone.
Anyway, wetting the food a bit before giving it to her should help.

I just took a look and her palate looks normal. I haven't taken her to the vet for this issue yet, its kinda expensive so i was hoping i could solve it on my own.
