I'm turning 23 in 4 months and only about to get my associates because i was a fuckup. Going to get my bachelors within a year directly afterwards. I can move out in 6-8 months and have a bachelors with zero debt making something like 35k-40 starting and topping out at maybe 50-55k a year. Or I can stay home and pursue a masters in a field with 100% placement rates with starting salaries of 75-90k and topping out at a low 100k. It would only take an additional 2 years.
The masters will cost about 44k but i'd be going on 27 by graduation. I'm not sure if its feasible to move out and take a bigger loan so i can cover living expenses for 2 years, it almost seems wasteful. Is it pathetic to be home that long even if I'm pursuing such a lucrative career? I should be able to work for about a year while getting my bachelors

You are asking this question too early. You may not want a masters, the economy may have changed, you may switch majors (no one ever thinks they will change until they do), etc.

Maybe. It would only be a year from now when I'd start pursuing it. The growth rate for the field is exceptional and i have no plans to change major. I'm very much interested and devoted to pathology. Its either the bachelors and move out, or the masters and stay in. Theres not much time for anything else

Stay until you got your bachelors then decide if you want to move out or not.

Yeah that sounds good. I'm pretty set on getting my masters. Its just a matter of whether i want to move out or stigma against staying home so long
