Make some research on 4chan around the internet, nothing here can be taken seriously.
To be fair, I'd say the most interesting aspect of this place is seeing how people behave with each other when they have /full/ anonymity.
Second interesting thing is that everybody is on the same level, no message count, no level, no nothing, everybody is exactly the same here.
And really you can draw examples of this from pretty much any social theory of philosophy.
(You should check out Rousseau and the natural state, because this place is kinda what humans become when you strip them from any social obligations)

On one page someone might say they don't believe in the holocaust while on the other they might say they love anime, and even if this is a pretty stereotypical example it's pretty accurate.
I mean for instance, I'm actually a pretty normal person, I'm a 19 yo student, and I behave normally in most social contexts, I might even call myself a nice guy, but that won't prevent me from being an asshole to somebody here just for fun, especially if they get triggered easily.
Compared to most people here I'd say I'm a normie, you won't get many other pretty serious answer.

I'm new to 4chan and do not know how to directly reply to someone, but thank you for the help and honest reply.

Also I'm here mainly to observe and get any form of replies, there's no set format for my research paper.

I think the average 4chan user is probably a twentysomething white male who likes to watch anime and/or play video games, and isn't the stereotypical neckbeard fedora type, but a fairly normal looking guy who is just kind of socially awkward so he gets social interaction on places like 4chan instead of irl. I mean that's just the average, there's a big spectrum of people here and obviously 4chan isn't just for weebs and trolls anymore.

I have a couple of people I would consider actual friends, but I will hang out with acquaintances from time to time. I really prefer to spend time by myself most of the time though.

4. For using 4chan? I've been on here for years and it just has been the go to, everytime I leave I end up back here. Also it's nice that the site is still pretty nuts which keeps it unique.

There is a massive disparity on this site. For example, this board, /adv/ is the most left/liberal on the site. On the other hand, /pol/ is the most right/conservative board. /r9k/ is is own gem.

Are you planning to observe every board or just /adv/?

I guess you should visit the boards that this site is "known for" then. They would approximately be /b/, /d/, /r9k/, /int/, /mlp/, /pol/, and /v/. /d/ is the slowest of these boards.
