Stress fractures just kinda happen. Im 4'11" and a female and it happens more often in shorter females. I noticed the pain after my first ruck march which was 4 miles there and 2 miles back. It got worse as i tried to ignore it and run the pain off. We carry about 40-60lbs. A 6'0 tall 180lb guy can carry that easier than a 4'11 110lb female.
