Hey /adv/, I'm looking into buying a new graphics card with my tax return. I currently thinking about getting a 6 gb card, but know little about hardware. What are somethings I should be conscious of? Will a single fan be fine or should I look for dual fan cards? Thank you in advance for your help anons.

What's your budget?
I'd say get one of these. Ordered from cheapest to most expensive.
RX 460 4GB
GTX 1050 Ti 4GB
RX 470 4GB
RX 480 8GB
GTX 1060 6GB version
GTX 1070 8GB
higher than that you're just paying too much
any other cards are shitty gimped versions
also the amount of memory isn't the end all be all

That's the one I was looking into getting. Im looking to spend no more than $250. I take it the single fan and my default power supply should be enough then?
I'd say a GTX 1070 providing your budget allows it. A second hand 980ti may also be worth considering if you can't stretch that far.
With either of those you shouldn't really have to worry about upgrading for several years providing the current trend of raw computing power and VRAM requirements stays steady.
Don't worry about fans. They come with enough cooling out of the box unless you have plans to overclock them considerably. Just make sure your case is well ventilated.

I wouldn't use some shitty no name power supply regardless of what card I'd get. Get a decent PSU. Seasonic makes solid ones. As far as consumption I don't know, there are sites that estimate that based on your specs. The card should also have its consumption.
500-600W PSU should be enough.

Depends what your default power supply is. The new cards are very efficient power-wise. 500W should be fine.
