I just recently got 3 guinea pigs(1 is 2 years old, the rest are 1 years old) and I would love if anybody can give me some basic tips on how to be a good owner, what to do to keep them happy/healthy, pretty much anything to know so that nothing bad happens. I know what to feed them, when to clean out their cage and when to bathe them.

just go to /an/ they have threads about small mammals
good look with them, piggies are so cute

they need proper bedding, oranges to snack on, pig pig hay, they will require many chew blocks (stuff to chew on). Other than that they should be super happy and popcorn all about. socialize with them each day. Enjoy your new babies! I hope they live a long, healthy life!

Also, keep the males separated from the females

Is it normal for them to be afraid/running away from me for the first few days?
Watch out for drafts and try protecting them from stress, they are quite vulnerable.

Of course it is
This is EXTREMELY important, you might kill your friend by not holding him properly
delicious

Edgy
Don't forget about hay, very important
You never bathe guinea pigs. You should brush them and cut them if they have long hair but thats about it

How would I protect them from stress? Also should I be worried about them being too cold? I don't have the space indoors so I have their cage outside on top of a table with a thin cloth over it to give them some privacy.
