I'm not too tech savvy and don't want /g/ to make fun of me.
So my room is furthest away from router. For the past few months everything was fine. This past week, my computer can not get a single bar on the wifi. It detects it for a second, half loads a page like inter et dial up days, then disconects again. But my Ps4, phone and tablet all do. Why is this?

probably the device your computer uses to latch on to the signal. older computers have an external adapter you usually buy, newer computers come with one built in generally, especially laptops, which can make them more of a nuisance to replace

Ease to change that?

Lookup how to replace your network interface card/wireless adapter. Assuming windows dig into device manager through control panel and see if there's a driver update for Network adapter. Maybe also try updating routers firmware. Exercise your Google- fu.

Thanks. Will look into this. Confused cause now my laptop cant find a single wifi signal, even locked neigjbor ones. But my other devices are fine

i'm from /g/
I suggest asking us there. It's probably a sputtering router or a driver issue. Shit sucks. Can't you use ethernet?

check if your device is the problem
check if your network is the problem
use /g/oogle
Nobody knows anything on /g/, because they easily google their problems

Like i said, furthest from router. Gonna need a very long cable. Plus i wanted to see if it was a simple fix. Restarted everything. Positioned router differnet. Not even close to the router works.

Also,
I don't remember where, but there's an article about network adapter power saving settings on Windows where the network adapter can shut itself off to save power. Look into it. Simple but too drunk to remember atm.

Thanks man.
I see I have
>qualcomm atheros ar9485 802.11b adapter
I don't know shit about this. Google is saying buy a new one. Can anyone recommend one, one for like $20 maybe?

The 802.11b is the driver software version# for that specific adapter such&such9485. If you cant get an identical one then look into usb network adapters or a really long Ethernet cable.
Good luck Op .
