I'm quite uncomfortable with some facets of my sexuality. Illegal facets. I have not been the victim of any sexual abuse in any way, so this is not cyclical. I want to cure this regardless and reclaim a healthy set of personal sexual coordinates. Therapy feels like the logical first step.
However going to a therapist and saying, for example, "I can't get hard to the idea of consensual sex" feels like a plea to get onto the sex offenders' register.
Pic unrelated. Just some edgy, hyperbolic image to reflect the trauma this question is putting me through.
Therapists actually have to keep your secrets from a legal point of view. And the reason you're finding help is actually rather honorable, but not at all unique. I'd find help from a -good- therapist (one that even specializes im sexual cases maybe, otherwise i'd look in the ocd/obsessive compulsive thoughts corner, if that's remotely the case with you). Maybe there's even some (anonymous) psych help hotline that can help you get the right therapist.
Every person needs a right one for their case, obviously. But in yours I'd hate to see you get bummed out over some incompetent douchebag while you're willing to look into this. I've been discouraged by quite a few therapists myself until I got a good one. I'm a eurofag and my choice will always be to get a psychiatrist, simply because they went to uni instead of college and usually did some doctorates/specialities in specific areas. Can't get stuck with some new age mindfulness hippie who teaches you about "thoughts are clouds you have to send away" or something.
Good luck anon!
Dunno wtf happened there.

Are you British or European?

If you think a therapist is going to change your sexual procivities then I have some bad news for you...

And a surprising amount of people would say they have good news for me so I believe it to be worth the effort. Especially as this isn't a matter of being torn up about liking ding dongs instead of fairy holes or visa versa.
