Got any advice about remembering something that happened years ago?
People have different ways of doing it, like retracing their steps or talking about it with someone, I'd like to know what you usually do when you want to remember something and share some stories about it if you want.
OP here, the method I'm using now is writing down everything I remember about that time, even it's something confusing, to later check and see if it fits somewhere in the real memories.
When time pass by, you might actually remember things wrong, and it seems like what you remembered really happened.

Just trying to recover some memories, and I was curious how other people dealt with it when they need to remember something old.
Still nothing here, I'll try relaxing and writing more later to see if I can wrap this up.

I like (and employ a version of) this idea. In my own life I keep a 'log', it's just a small book where I jot down what I did on a given day. It's not a diary, there's no emotional introspection or reflection, every entry is little more than: "Renewed car registration, finished essay for AAT302, hit the bar with Nick and Matt."
It's great reading back a few years and being able to recall the doings of a single day.

Pretty useful, it could have saved me some trouble if I did that.
I imagine that even if I didn't write a really detailed entry, I would remember more about the events because I could use that note as an "anchor" for other memories, like details that seems not worth writing down at the time.
It would be easy to remember the whole day like that, even if you write only a small part of your days. You could probably fill in the blanks with some easy thinking.
