How do I control volume when playing a CD through an amp?

Lower the volume on the DVD player.

Or put a variable resistor on the aux ground. Make sure it logarithmic for audio applications

I don't have either of those things and the dvd player is without volume control. Any backass ways I could do it?

Could you run it through a guitar pedal via some adapter

Or put a pillow in front of the amp and cover it full/half/a quarter to modulate

I mean you can make a resistor out of a pencil, or a small gauge long length peace of wire. But you seem to be a luddite,
So just get a hand full adapters and nigger rig it thorough a pedal that has a volume control.
