Your average person would not have a problem with killing silverfish. I, however, absolutely adore any insect that moves slowly, silverfish included. I rarely see them and I clean up well around the house, so there doesn't seem to be an infestation. Is leaving them alive okay for my property or should I man up and kill them whenever I see them?

It's just that I've read somewhere on the internet that they eat books and anything paper. It would be okay, but I was afraid for my documents and the uni library books.

They like damp places. And it's true they eat startchy things like that but as long as your books aren't like just in an attic somewhere where there's like a nest of silverfish feeding on them I don't think you have to worry about damage.
