How does one pull his friends into tabletop rpgs, specifically Vampire: The Masquerade? It doesn't help that I have no prior experience with tabletop rpgs, but I'm eager to learn so I can provide a genuine experience that my friends will have fun with. I plan to make a session during the summer, probably mid July and need advice on pretty much everything concerning the game and managing it.
Thanks in advance, /adv/.

Wew. V:tM:B is a great game. Always wanted to get into the table top version

It's a good example of what a flawed masterpiece is. Thanks for the bump, I guess.
Try with something more simple first numbnut
Godspeed, OP.

It isn't that complicated and it's pretty self-contained, too. We're fans of the games, but they're not into p&p rpgs that much, so I need to find a way to make it appealing to them.

Not even being snarky, there are frequently threads for people in similar positions.

I asked the same thing in a /WoD/ general, but only one person responded and was somewhat helpful, so I decided to post it here.

Honestly? Its a good jumping off point into p&p rpg. Its only d10s needed and its a lot of character and story based rather than i am "x feet away so i have to roll 2 x sided dice plus another dice and add penalties." ( i know its a huge over over exaggeration) but with v:tm is rather easy and makes it fun. But you have to have a good story to keep people interested. Plus give them an area to understand how the game works.

How do you make a good story? Game wise.

If you're getting into tabletops for the sake of being unique and "nerdy," don't. You'll be bored to shit. Its niche for a reason.

To me when i play i loathe "hand of god d.ms" they take any fun away and immersion to the story. Make it open but find a way to nuance back to the story if it goes to far astray. Or overlap archs with the different clans that and keep them occupied and happy. I mean you are a story teller afterall.
But but i like to use archs with each individual member of the party and leave bread crumbs so they can use later to make it worth it. But tbats just starters

Why would I do that? I'm genuinely interested, since I loved the video game that was based on it.

I see.

Its more that you have to know what would intrigue your players to engage

And how do you craft an intriguing story? What should be included and what not?
