You're actually right. And it turns out there's a reason for this.

"Yourself" is primarily made up of neural networks in your brain. Neural networks form through repetition and other things. Repetition strengthens them, so long standing patterns get ingrained.

It takes time, and repetitions. to change them. They'll never go away completely, but they do weaken, and new networks form and/or get strengthened.

This guy gets it. It's based on memory and the only way to become a different person is to keep repeating the qualities you want. You can't change your original way of thinking overnight unless you lose it through brain damage or hypnosis.

Repeat the qualities you want until they're ingrained. It will seem fake at first, but there will eventually be a time where it becomes you.
