Has anyone here ever been to the Mayo Clinic?
I am so fucking sick. I have shit growing in my guts with seemingly no cause, I have neck pain so bad I can't turn my head, my skin starts peeling at random, I have headaches so bad I can't see, I have had moments of mental dysfunction so bad I have forgotten my own name.

I have had 6 different surgeries, tried specialty diets and been on countless medications. Nothing helps. It's been this way for 2 years now and no one knows whats wrong with me. They literally sent me to a therapist to see if my symptoms were 'mental' like I could wish tumors into my body. I have been contemplating suicide because life is not worth living like this and doctors can't help me.

Does anyone know if the Mayo Clinic can help me? Does this sound like any disease you've ever heard of? Please help me, I'm desperate
>>
Well I guess its worth a shot also MD Anderson in Houston Tx specializes in types of cancer I think.
>>
I mean id definitely try it if other people cant figure it out.
>>
have you been tested for lupus?
>>
>>18101486
Yes I have. They said my something or another came back positive but it wasn't lupus. My main doctor seems to really think it's a auto immune disease but can't find anything that comes back positive.

>>18101466
I don't know if it would be worth the long drive and massive costs if I don't think it's cancer. maybe if they do diagnostic tests though.
>>
it's barely better than any other good hospital. your symptoms are horrible, just kill yourself.
>>
>>18101458
Ever considered that you are so stressed that all of these things can occur?
I could relate to you in a way, when i get really stressed i get headaches worse than ever, especially my neck muscles start getting so tense that whenever i move it hurts, up to the point where i couldn't move for days. I also get skin problems sometimes but it's just a rash.
Stress can do things to me that are beyond me.
The only other thing i can think of for those neck problems we share is perhaps that a nerve is kind of squeezing inbetween the spinal cord.

Don't take anything i say for granted but it's my humble view on it.

I am this close but once I think about my family and can't go through with it. My little sister is always by my side and tells me everyday she can't wait until I'm better.

I'm so afraid it would ruin her for life if I did it. But I'm also afraid that I'm holding her back, her wanting to run and play and enjoy life with me but I can't. It's always obvious that I'm not doing well or that I'm in pain and I think it's wearing at her innocence. She also doesn't have any friends her age and sticks to me.

I'm so fucking torn.
>>
>>18101517
It's not this, I live a pretty stress free life.
Most of my symptoms were very sudden and my parents thought I was having a small stroke at the beginning. Also when I say neck pain, I mean my neck swells and gains about 2 inches around. And the mental symptoms are some of the worst things about all this. I have forgotten most of my childhood, my short term memory is so bad I'll forget what I'm doing on the way there and I have almost lost the feeling of joy altogether. Music means nothing to me, I don't enjoy my hobbies and I don't feel nostalgia anymore.

It's so strange. I have had an MRI and they found nothing there. But it was also read by new doctor and that was over a year ago. Maybe I should get a new one?
>>
>>18101532
I'm sorry man I don't know what to say.
I don't think you should kill yourself, but I have no idea what you could do

Have you tried fasting for long periods?
>>
>>18101532
>But it was also read by new doctor and that was over a year ago. Maybe I should get a new one?
You can try, usually one doctors opinion is not enough
>>
>>18101458
It might be something in your environment or diet. Try changing your diet drastically and live someplace else (like a hotel) for a while to see if your condition improves.
>>
sounds like vitamin D deficiencies. Get ur D levels checked
>>
>>18101622
that might be a lot of money I don't really have. I'm trying to save up for the mc at the moment, but I can't even get a job because of this so it's nothing but odd jobs and random tasks online.

I really don't want to make a gofundme because it always seem like you're just a loser begging for money for a fake illness. I wish I could get a real job.

>>18101735
I did that too. Wasn't that either.
>>
>>18101458

Not a med fag. Here are some things that come to my mind from my best guess to least best guess.

> Autoimmune disease
> Intense allergic reaction to something environmental or diet related
> Lymes Disease (from a tick bite)
> Multiple sclerosis
> Rabies or something similar to Rabies.

What tests have your doctor ordered. What are they suspecting and ruling out?
>>
>>18101458

You can't just walk into the Mayo clinic and be like, "Hey I am sick yo..." You got to talk to your PCP, get consults for specialists, run through various tests, rule out possible diagnoses and attempt various treatments to see if any have any success.

Only if that shit fails you will they suggest you fly to a super specialist in another city. There is a lot of info you need to have ready before you can do that. You need to collect your medical records from the various healthcare facilities you attended and memorize everything. Have your diagnostic scans ready and any and all doctors observation notes. You have a right to your medical information, you just need to call them.

It amazes me how many people have a life altering illness or condition crop up and then be so ignorant and uninformed of basic medical knowledge regarding their care. Get yourself educated first, then the next steps will be clear.

Those are common symptoms of heavy metal poisoning, check that out

I don't eat bread hardly at all, and I don't eat red meat. So mostly vegetables and some snack food here and there. I have gone long periods without certain food and really mixed up my diet and that didn't help either. I have been tested for both Lymes and MS. Like I said, they told me that something in my blood came back odd but it wasn't anything they could pinpoint to one condition. I haven't been tested for rabies though. I did spend a lot of time in the woods with my parents and have been around wild animals and their resting places. Maybe something I inhaled? Maybe mold?

And again, my main MD seems very set on an autoimmune thing but can't find anything that matches. He keeps telling me to come back and try different tests but literally every thing comes back negative and it's so frustrating. Do you have any suggestions? I am very desperate.

I think you should ask around some health-specific forums, anon. I've been ill with some phantom disease a long time myself, and you're more likely to run into someone who knows something or can give you resources on a health/illness forum. It's hard to suggest a forum to you when you don't know yet what you have, but maybe google can turn up someplace to start. I personally go to phoenixrising, which is for CFS/ME, (which I'm not saying you have, I have no clue), but I think the people there would at least try to point you somewhere and many have been to Mayo Clinic themselves. I'm so sorry you're going through this. The doctors who said you have something mental are negligent. Maybe physical therapy can help with the neck pain, if you're well enough to go out for it. But finding out what you have seems to be first priority.
>>
>>18102596

Lymes is tricky to diagnose. There is the cheap test that is basically a 75/25 shot of finding it, then the ultra expensive test that is much more accurate. Call your insurance to see if they will cover the more expensive test for Lymes.

BTW, Lymes is basically an autoimmune disease and if you spend a lot of time in the woods then it is possible.

>>18102585

Good thought. Have you asked your doctor about this? Maybe you have lead toxicity?
>>
>>18102576
I am literally in the middle of getting all my medical records... I have tried 20+ medications and have had 6 different surgeries. I have seen 5+ specialist and none of them know what's wrong but acknowledge that I am ill. I was just asking if anyone here had ever been or known someone who has been so I can figure out if it's worth going.
I guess you didn't read the thread or something.
>>
>>18101458
Mayo clinic is the #1 hospital in the world. Pretty sure they can help you.
>>
>>18102603
Thank you and I'm sorry for you as well. "Invisible illnesses" are impossible and the most frustrating thing. I can't stand another person asking me if I'm still sick. I have shit in my guts all the way up to my heart, my joints swell and I have blood in my stomach. Yes I'm still sick, you're not considerate for asking me every time you see me.
And you're right, it's hard to find a board when I have no idea what it is.

>>18102608
Maybe I should look into that. I'll ask my doc next time I go in. I heard that chemo really helps some people with lymes which is scary but at this point I'll do anything.

>>18102585
I'll ask about this as well. I think I may have been tested in the past but it wouldn't hurt to ask again.

Thank you guys so much for your help, this is really helping me think about new things to try.
