I need some encouragement from people who have gotten over SSRI withdrawal. My brain zaps, nausea, and mood swings are intense even though I did a slow taper. Does it get better? How can I ease the symptoms?
>>
I went through atypical antidepressant withdrawal. Some things that got me through included warm baths, reading (of course did not retain much), videogames, walks (on a treadmill or outside), music, and very low doses of clonazepam.
>>
Yea those brain shivers are really fucked, but they go away. Fucking effexor.

Out of curiosity, what convinced you to discontinue your SSRI?

I no longer suffer from what I was put on it for (teenage related anxiety) and since I'm an adult now I don't want to have to pay for unneeded medication when I get off of my parents' insurance. I got on Zoloft when I was 13, doctors didn't say anything about what happens when you stop

>I no longer suffer
Funny, I've basically had severe anxiety, among other issues, since I was 8 years old. I thought I no longer had any need for medications after experiencing a relatively good year. I'm now back on meds, as I am presently having a complete meltdown.

I've been doing well for 4 years. I got off of seroquel a year ago with no problems or anxiety issues, and I figured I might as well go all the way with getting off my meds. The physical symptoms though...it's like having the flu.
