I shave it like that too, plus balls. Shit fucking sucks though, I was used to just trim it but my shaver got fucked and because I'm a budgetboy I never got to buy new again. I clean shave it, it looks retarded but after a couple of days it's got that nice look I shave it about once a months after it's fucked up again. Trimming with scissors is fucking horrible. I shave my balls clean though every time. There's not a better feeling than when you got your balls soft and bald.

I think the least weird option for men and women would be to trim that area in general instead of having an isolated patch of skin completely hairless. That just looks uneven.

Don't shave, it looks strange. Trim and you'll be fine.
