It's great they've written twelve books but that doesn't mean they're good at it, well marketed, or have a large demographic.
Me painting 100 things doesn't mean I should get to be famous for it.

Finish things because you WANT to finish them, not because you think they might bring you glory.

JK Rowling didnt write harry potter (initially) with the intent of cranking out big paychecks.
RR Martin didn't and still fucking doesnt, the dude is slow meticulous in his books he's fallen behind the show that made him popular.
Tolkien sure as shit didnt crank out books just for fame.
They were all loves of passion and imagination, that were (mostly) done because they wanted to and not to be famous.

If fame is what drives you, writing is probably the wrong place to be.

But this anon does have a point. Those who write for fun will be successful (you gotta finish those 50+ ideas though OP. You ain't no Van Gogh. Ain't nobody gonna find your journals of have written ideas and publish them for their sheer brilliance when you die). But if you're trying to force yourself to make the next billion dollar Harry Potter idea, guess what? You're gonna be sad for like the rest of your life.

Besides, who knows. You're one idea that you think is too stupid and nobody will like will end up having a big fandom. Too many different tastes out there now a days. Also, I don't think people really read anymore...so do it for the lols.
