My best friend tried to kill herself today. She just got sent

It's tough honestly. I personally had a friend who got along great with everyone and I showed up to school and learned he killed himself.

I couldn't help but feel like I could have done something myself. My biggest regret was not even looking for signs that he struggled.

The best thing you can do is be there for your friend and convince them you'll be there night/day for them if they ever have doubt.

I have made several suicide attempts in the past and scared the shit out of my friends but I have never, not ever blamed them for letting me do what I did because I know how hard it is to deal with somebody who's crazy and it can be hard for anyone to humanly deal with somebody who needs constant support and reassurance. Just because this support and reassurance was not forthcoming because people have lives does not make OP responsible for their friend's dumbass decision. One day, when they're better, they'll learn to own that themselves.

Call the hospital. Figure out where she's at. Go to see her when you can. Bring her some clothes, a phone charger, candy/soft drinks, a stuffed fucking animal, whatever.

When I woke up after a paracetamol overdose a couple of years ago, opening my eyes to see my close friend quietly crocheting in the chair next to me while she waited for me to wake up made me realise that I wasn't alone in the world.
