I wish we could have him come as a refugee and I've jokingly suggested he is fleeing from Trump's reign, but I don't think that will fly with Immigration.

Literally will not work. Only way is if you marry him because American PhDs are known to be rejected by Canadian immigration let alone highschool factory workers.
