I've been suicidal for over a year now and I've been completely silent about it up until now. I've had multiple half-hearted attempts and a couple where I was very close to hurting myself. One of those worse ones was recent, and its got me really scared. I want to bring up how I'm feeling to my parents and get help.
How can I go about bringing up this subject without freaking them out too much? Is telling them even worth it?
what are they like?

My mom is caring but tends to overreact and obsess about things. My dad prioritizes my schooling over everything else but can be caring too.
My dad's been out of a job for a while though and he may be forced to retire early. I worry that me bringing this up will be a huge headache for them on top of that, or that my dad will see this situation as a threat to my studies and prevent me from getting help.

Just go to the school counselor and they will help you. They can also help you figure out how to talk to your parents, or contact them for you if you're afraid parents won't take you seriously.
