try a lot of life drawing practice first. I'm taking classes for a game art degree, and after over a year they still make me draw from life. practice anatomy until you know it by heart, and practice using colors and shapes in environments too. the more variety you can draw, the more likely you can get hired. set up a portfolio with everything you can draw, and try something digital so it looks cleaner.
