photography degree is worthless. when you take a picture you ask your self which part of the photo do you want emphasize, for example the height, then you would take ur pic on the floor. you cant emphasize the taste of food without a filter. and for models of women if you want to emphasize her entire face you make her face the entire page.

You'll end up being a wedding photographer making $40,000 a year if you're lucky. If that's what you want go ahead.

If you enjoy it and decide that this is what you want to do with your life, it's not "worthless", and a degree can help sell your pedigree as an artist to people who are concerned more with the status of art than actual art.
Understand that having an "artistic eye" is somewhat of a "you have it or you don't" proposition, but that the information on the technical aspect of taking photos is easily available, as is information on photo composition and framing. You don't *need* a degree to be a competent photographer if you avidly pursue photography.
To be SUCCESSFUL as a photographer what you really need is ambition to produce work and drive at selling yourself, or you need contacts with people who can provide you work.
Without the drive and ambition, you're way better off with a degree in something that typically requires a formal education to learn well.
