Sometimes it feels like no matter how much I learn and how hard I try I'll never get where I want to be. Altough you are right, that's the right way to handle things.

Remember that truly bad things happening are pretty rare. Is the mistake imperiling your ability to have a roof over your head and food on your plate? Did it kill someone? Did it destroy a long-term relationship? If no, you're probably worrying too much. Try to do better in future, but don't let the mistake destroy your life.

Your are too hard with yourself. You have to ask yourself 3 questions. 1. Where do you want to go? 2. What is important to you? 3. Why do you push yourself so hard? I think you get your positive feelings from others. Be more independent. It's your life. You can do whatever you want with it. In your style and your pace. Think about this for the next couple of days. It will take you some time to realize things. And look from other perspectives.

You have to learn that criticism isn't about you as a person. Criticism is something you can learn of. Be happy to get criticise. It means you are important and you get the things you can improve on. It would be bad if you wouldn't be criticised, wouldn't it? How else could you improve?
