I dropped out of university and will never be going back. I really want to be an electrician but I'm worried about years of apprenticeship. I like trucks and driving, but I don't want to be a long-haul trucker because I like to be home every night.
I'm thinking about taking a 6 month community college program to be a heavy duty equipment operator. That or go to driving school to get a DZ license (dump trucks, cement trucks, garbage trucks, etc).
I don't care about getting rich, I just want a simple but comfortable life. Any other suggestions on careers I should look into would be appreciated.
join the army, they have trades like the ones you mentioned. its guaranteed employment, and on-the-job training.

I like hicks more than the pretentious pseudointellectual snowflakes you find on university campuses.
